Paris Marshall Smith (she/her-they/them) joined the Regional District of Central Kootenay (RDCK) in 2017 to support sustainability and climate action work. Her workplan includes focus on energy, water, food and agriculture and climate action. She came into the role as registered planner with a background in regional food systems and a Masters in Community and Regional Planning. Currently based in Creston next to the Arrow Creek watershed, Paris has worked and studied around the world including Copenhagen, Durban and Tegucigalpa. With 3 major watersheds and hundreds of surface water connections, the RDCK has been exploring its role in watershed governance for many years. Since 2018 has organized that investigation around the Watershed Governance Initiative. Paris is grateful to be able to be part of this process.
