Jennifer Archer
Program Manager, BC Freshwater Legacy Initiative

Jennifer specializes in strategic and policy advice related to freshwater protection in British Columbia. Trained as a lawyer, Jennifer practiced contracts law in the corporate and non-profit sectors for ten years before discovering her passion for innovative agreements to advance freshwater protection. In 2012, she received a Master of Laws from the University of British Columbia directed at reconciling Indigenous and non-Indigenous water laws and identifying opportunities for shared governance of freshwater. Jennifer is currently Program Manager for the BC Freshwater Legacy Initiative, a project of MakeWay. The Legacy Initiative supports place-based watershed governance initiatives that bring together governments, water users, and community interests at the watershed scale to make better decisions for the benefit of water and the watershed. She lives and works in the Nanaimo River Watershed with her partner and two boys in Snuneymuxw traditional territory.
